Writers

Meet the writers of the DC Sports Nexus.  Each writer brings their own style to the table, but we all love sports and have a passion for creative writing.  Right now, we are even looking for another great writer or two, so email editor@DCSportsNexus.com if you are interested in contributing.  We hope you enjoy the journey through each DC Sports season with us.  Thanks for reading and don't forget to follow each of us on Twitter!

Chris C-Ford
Editor, Writer, Mascot

I began my online writing endevors in 2006 when I started a Wizards blog and I have been writing about DC Sports teams ever since. My writing is inspired by smarmy and offbeat sports columnists like Tony Kornheiser and sarcastic sports blogs like Deadspin.  I think that stats are fine but perhaps some Outkast lyrics can better describe what has happened during an athletic competition.

I am a JMU graduate with a marketing degree and I have an MBA from George Mason Univeristy.  I love all the DC Sports teams and watch every game.  When I'm not writing, I'm working as a freelance marketing specialist/graphic designer.  So basically...hire me, as a marketing person or a writer.

You Can email Chris at Editor@DCSportsNexus.com

Camilla Alsobrook
Head Hockey Writer

I am currently a student and I have been covering local area high school hockey since 2011.  I have also been managing and writing at Capital Connection and I have been a frequent guest writer for the Puck Buddys Caps blog.  One of my favorite writers is Oscar Wilde, an influence to my writing style which is a little bit sly & pithy, maybe at times even saucy (like a Nick Backstrom pass).

I love all things hockey, especially the Washington Capitals.  I even possibly, secretly, like the Panthers too.  My goal is to one day become a sports journalist for a major news outlet, but until then, I'm stuck here.

You Can email Camilla at Camilla@DCSportsNexus.com

Dru Montoya
Head Baseball Writer

I graduated from the University of Maryland with degrees in history and creative writing, and most of my writing experience is with fiction.  However, I jumped into writing about sports in 2011 by creating a unique blog that chronicles the people who broadcast the game instead of those who play the game, Action On The Ice.

My favorite sport is baseball and the Orioles are my first love, though I recently became a Nationals fan as well.  Since writing and baseball are my passions, this is the perfect outlet for my creative expression.

Jeremy Batka
Head Basketball Writer

I'm a recent graduate from Bridgewater College where I spent my days working as the sports editor for the student newspaper and radio programs. I've worked in commercial and sports talk radio and at one time in my life did both.

Growing up in northern Virginia I've been a D.C. sports fan my whole life so I know the crushing lows and the exalting highs. Well so far mostly the lows. I'm look forward to providing you with top-notch Wizards coverage as I await my next radio opportunity.
